01: hello, world

The first file. What this is and how it works.

This blog is a folder of markdown files. Each post lives in its own folder, named by the date it was written, with any images or sounds sitting right next to it.

why plain text

Plain text outlives every app it was written in. It opens anywhere, diffs cleanly in git, and doesn't care what the site around it looks like next year.

Write it once, in the place you already write. Let the site be a side effect.

how a post is made

  1. Make a folder named for today, like 2026-09-30.
  2. Put one markdown file inside it.
  3. Drop images, audio or video next to it.
  4. Commit and push. Cloudflare builds the rest.

Some things worth knowing:

  • The folder name is the URL.
  • Two posts on one day? Name the second folder 2026-09-30-2.
  • Set draft: true to keep a post off the live site.
function readme(file = 'latest') {
  return `Notes, written in plain text.`;
}

That's it. More soon.
